VITA seeking volunteers, offers free tax prep

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free, IRS-certified tax preparation for individuals and families earning $69,000 or less each year.

Jim Howatt helps at the United Way of Central Arkansas tax services.

This service is made possible by trained volunteers who help community members file accurate returns at no cost. “We are currently seeking volunteers for the upcoming tax season,” said Jessica Clawson, executive director of the United Way of Central Arkansas. “No prior tax experience is required, and we will provide training.”

“If you’re interested in receiving free tax help, or volunteering with VITA, we’d love to hear from you!” For more information, visit uwcark.org, or call 501.327.5087.

The 2026 VITA sponsors are Arvest Foundation, Farmers Insurance and Entergy.
