Local veterans recently gathered for an annual Veterans Day program at Julie’s Sweet Shoppe in Conway.

“Most of our regular customers are veterans, some WWII veterans. They all are so special to us and dear to our hearts,” said shop owner Julie Goodnight.

One way that the bakery shows its appreciation is by hosting the annual veterans program.

“We also ask businesses if they want to participate,” Goodnight said. “We have around 30 companies that attend and donate gifts, prizes and money. The veterans look forward to this day all year long and talk about it the rest of the year. We all feel the love here that connects us to each other. We are one big bakery family.”
