UCA’s Williams earns weekly UAC honor

CONWAY — University of Central Arkansas defensive back Dillon Williams was named the co-United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. 

Williams, a 6-foot, 190-pound sophomore safety from Southaven, Miss., returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown, had five total tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks in UCA’s victory over West Georgia on Saturday at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.

Williams returned his interception in the final seconds of the second quarter to give the Bears a 21-10 halftime lead, It was UCA’s first interception return for a touchdown since the 2021 season.

No. 12 UCA (5-2, 2-1) is open this week before hosting North Alabama for Homecoming at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
