The late Greg Hunt will be recognized with by UCA with an Alumni Service Award.

The University of Central Arkansas Alumni Association will present the Alumni Service Award to two alumni at a ceremony during Homecoming 2018.

Susan Hoggard ’67 and Greg Hunt ’03 will be honored at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Conway Country Club. Hunt’s award will be presented posthumously.

The UCA Alumni Service Award is presented to an individual or couple who, through their deeds or actions, reflect and recognize the importance of the UCA Alumni Association and demonstrate extraordinary commitment, dedication, service and loyalty to the alumni association.

UCA will recognize Susan Hoggard with an Alumni Service Award.

Hoggard currently serves on the UCA Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is a lifemember of the UCA Alumni Association, and she has served on a number of other alumni committees. She has been a member of the Purple Circle since its inception, and she previously served on the Purple Circle Board of Directors. Hoggard has not missed a home football game in 55 years.

“Whether you are able to give of your time, service or monetary support, it is important that the past and present of UCA remain connected,” Hoggard said. “I take pride in serving as an example to other alumni, so they can see the importance of being a part of the alumni association. I love UCA, and I hope that my bear spirit is contagious.”

Hunt served as a member of the UCA Diversity Advisory Committee and as a board member on the UCA Alumni Association. He also was a charter board member of the UCA Black Alumni Chapter. 

“Greg would have been ecstatic to have learned about his selection for this award. UCA always held a special place in his heart, and knowing that the alumni association thought enough of his service for this recognition is truly an honor,” said Marilyn Hunt, Greg Hunt’s sister. “We know he is smiling down from heaven with a spirit of gratefulness for this special recognition.”

Since its inception in 2007, the UCA Alumni Association has honored 12 alumni with the Alumni Service Award. Each year, members of the alumni association are asked to submit a nomination for the award. Nominations are submitted to the UCA Alumni Relations Office, and the UCA Alumni Association Board of Directors selects recipients.
