19 Jan 2015 UCA theatre to present 'Charming Princes'
The University of Central Arkansas Theatre will present “Charming Princes” by Emily C. A. Snyder Friday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 31.
The opening performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30, and at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall. Afterward, the show will travel to grade schools across Central Arkansas with UCA Theatre’s traveling troupe of players, The Cadron Company.
“Charming Princes” is a continuation of the Cinderella fairy tale. Cinderella has just left the ball after throwing her hard glass slipper at a not-so-charming Prince’s head. What could have gone wrong? The evening was perfect — the chandeliers shone, the music was wonderful and the Prince had twirled her around as light as a feather. It WAS perfect, until she realized that it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
Admission to the opening performances is free. Tickets are not required, and seats are not reserved. Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain.
“This academic opportunity allows me to interact with multiple individuals of all ages, giving me the experience, knowledge and ability to have a broader understanding of the audience of which I’m speaking to,” said Sarah Kinder, a UCA junior who plays Cinderella.
Originally from Fort Smith, she is majoring in public relations with a minor in theatre.
“This outreach program provides me with the possibility to make children’s fairy tales come true and allows me a chance to live out a childhood dream,” she said.
This play is appropriate for all ages but targets children ages 4-12. The show runs approximately 30-45 minutes. After the on-campus productions, the play will tour more than 20 grade schools throughout Central Arkansas during the spring semester.
