UCA Softball adds Trinity Schlotterbeck to coaching staff

CONWAY — Head softball coach Kayla Lucas has announced the final addition to her coaching staff, bringing in former Maryland and FAU standout Trinity Schlotterbeck as the program’s pitching coach.

“Trinity has everything we’re looking for in a coach, she has a ton of experience in the circle, she’s a young, hungry coach, and her energy and enthusiasm are going to be great for our program,” Lucas said of her newest assistant. “She’s going to be a perfect addition to our culture, and I’m excited to get to work with her.”

Schlotterbeck threw nearly 600 innings in her college career, playing four years at Maryland before wrapping up her playing career with a graduate year at FAU. She held a career ERA of 2.99, winning 57 games in the circle with three saves. She won double-digit games in each of her last three seasons, including seasons of 15 and 16 in 2023 and 2024. Her last season at FAU, the Owls won 41 games, and Shlotterbeck’s 16 victories led the team.

Last season, she transitioned to the coaching staff at FAU, and helped the Owls repeat as a 40-win team, claiming a record of 45-12, including a 23-4 showing in American Athletic Conference play. FAU was selected as the No. 2 seed at the Gainesville Regional, where the Owls defeated Georgia Tech before bowing out of the NCAA Tournament.

Schlotterbeck joins a Bears team that won 28 games last season, and had several freshmen make major impacts in year one. The Bears also return senior pitcher Bailie Runner, who led Central Arkansas with 11 wins, two shutouts and 81 strikeouts.

“Trinity has been a part of winning programs, and knows what it takes to get to that level and sustain success,” Lucas added. “I think she’s going to help us take that next step forward and get us moving in the right direction.”
