University of Central Arkansas golfer Brenda Gonzalez earned national academic honors for the second consecutive season, being named an All-American Scholar again by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Gonzalez, a senior from Torreon, Mexico, was a first-team All-Southland Conference selection after tying for eighth at the SLC Championship. She finished in the Top 10 four times this season and was co-medalist at the Little Rock Golf Classic last fall at Diamante Golf Club in Hot Springs Village.

Gonzalez averaged 75.1 strokes per round this season, second best on the team, and set a school single-round record with a 66 in the first round of the Texas State Intercollegiate in February in New Braunfels, Texas.

Gonzalez was also named to the SLC All-Academic team with a 3.89 grade-point average in nutrition.
