UCA offers 9/11 display

The University of Central Arkansas is displaying part of its massive collection of documents and materials related to 9/11/2001.

The display began Friday, Sept. 8, and will continue through Thursday, Sept. 21.

The UCA Archives is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The display of 9/11 materials is free and open to the public.

Due to the generosity of the late Dale Nicholson of KATV Channel 7, the UCA Archives will also be showing a video created and donated by Nicholson that chronicles the horrific attack and the immediate aftermath.

UCA has one of the largest 9/11 collections in Arkansas. The full collection contains letters and official statements from local, state and federal officials, many photographs and newspapers from across the nation. Also included in the collection are letters from school-age children and college students in Arkansas, as well as letters from middle school students in New York that describe how they viewed the tragedy. Of particular interest are essays from St. Bartholomew School students in Queens, New York, press releases by former New York Gov. George Pataki and comments from Arkansas officials.
