10 Feb 2018 UCA Dixieland Band to perform Feb. 20

The UCA Dixieland Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Jackie Lamar, will celebrate the sounds of Mardi Gras at the Faulkner County Library at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. 

The Dixieland Band performs in the traditional New Orleans style with banjo, tuba, drums, piano, sax, trumpet, trombone and clarinet. 

The UCA Jazz Program is one of the strongest in the region. It offers students the opportunity to experience the diversity of jazz styles and literature with numerous performing opportunities.

Lamar, professor of saxophone, is a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, Arkansas Jazz Educators, Music Teachers National Association and Phi Beta Mu.
