The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) Foundation recently held its fourth annual fundraising golf tournament, Links for Learning, at the Morrilton Country Club. A field of more than 100 golfers participated in the three-person scramble.
Southwestern Energy Company served as the tournament’s $3,500 gold sponsor. Energy Weldfab Inc. was a $2,000 tournament sponsor. The event had five $500 team sponsors, including Allen Lipsmeyer Rentals, Benchmark Title, Champion Technologies, DeSoto Drilling Inc., and Regions Bank of Morrilton.
Food and beverage sponsors included Big Star Morrilton Food and Drug, Bonanza of Morrilton, Chick-Fil-A of Conway, Coca-Cola, Kroger of Morrilton, Petit Jean Meats and Warehouse Distributing Company.
Maus Implement of Morrilton served as the Hole-in-One Sponsor offering a John Deere riding lawn mower. Other chief sponsors included Adams’ Eye Care Clinic,
American Realty, Arka Valley Liquor, Arvest Bank of Morrilton, Central Arkansas Dust Control, Conway County Economic Development Corporation, Harris Plastering and Construction, Health-Care Pharmacy, McDonald’s of Morrilton, Gene and Raye Pearce, Rich and Natalie Moellers, St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Southwestern Energy Company, Tetra Technologies and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute of the University of Arkansas System.
The tournament raised approximately $10,000 in net proceeds. Funds from this year’s tournament will be allocated to a new park area in Downtown Morrilton and to the UACCM Union Square. The aesthetic improvement in Downtown Morrilton will be located near the college’s new Leadership Development Institute (LDI) which is under construction. The new LDI will offer community education and workforce development in a convenient downtown location, and the new park will create a natural and beautiful passageway for individuals utilizing these community outreach services.
Back on campus at UACCM, Union Square will be constructed adjacent to the new student center, and will include the creation of a park and recreation area including landscaping, fountains, planters, benches, fencing, an intramural basketball court, and portable bleachers. This addition to campus will help create a safe and relaxing environment to UACCM students and employees.
“The UACCM Foundation is so thankful for the overwhelming support given by area businesses and individuals who made monetary and other contributions toward the tournament, as well as for the great turnout of golfers,” said UACCM Vice Chancellor for Academic Services and Foundation Board Member Diana Arn. “The proceeds from the tournament will be used to enhance both the beauty and functionality of the downtown area and the UACCM campus.”
The official winners of the tournament may be viewed on the UACCM Web site at www.uaccm.edu, under the “Links for Learning” link.
The next UACCM Foundation-sponsored event will be the second annual Aiming for Education Skeet Shoot and Youth Trap Shoot Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Point Remove Lodge in Hattieville.
