22 May 2015 UACCM to offer workforce training programs
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Department of Community Education will offer two workforce training programs for surveyors in June.
Basic Surveying will be offered from 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, through Thursday, June 4.
Description Writing for Surveying will be offered 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, through Thursday, June 11. Cost for each three-day course is $325 if registered before Monday, June 1, and the price includes lunch each day.
Basic Surveying is designed for those currently working as a surveying technician. The classroom-based course will highlight topics including the U.S. Public Land Survey System; global positioning systems; angles, bearings, and azimuths; electronic distance measurement; leveling fields procedures and computations; topographic surveys; mistakes, errors, and blunders; and care of equipment. Instructional materials will be provided; however, bringing a scientific calculator is recommended.
Description Writing will be tailored more to land surveyors, but anyone interested in learning about land descriptions and how to properly write them will benefit from the course. This course will emphasize topics including the U.S. Public Land Survey System, subdivision plat descriptions, easement descriptions, strip descriptions, and metes and bounds descriptions. Instructional materials will be provided; however, bringing a memory device such as a jump or flash drive is recommended.
