02 Dec 2013 UACCM to host Night of Luminaries
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the community to its 11th Annual Night of Luminaries, Thursday, Dec. 5, following the Morrilton Christmas parade.
This free, family-friendly event is expected to start around 6 p.m. or as soon as Santa Claus can make his way from the parade to UACCM.
To highlight the beautiful new addition of the Timberwolf Crossing walking trail to the center of the UACCM campus, the more than 2,000 luminary bags decorated by Conway County children will line the sidewalks of the trail as well as a few portions of the roads in that area. This year’s route is one that families can walk through to view the artwork on the beautifully lit bags rather than the drive-through route used in past years.
Participating schools and organizations that helped in decorating luminary bags include Conway County Center for Exceptional Children, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton Intermediate, Morrilton Primary, Nemo Vista Elementary, Sacred Heart Elementary and Wonderview Elementary.
Santa will also be available to visit with children and hand out gifts in the area between the Fine Arts Building and Business Technology Center at UACCM. He will be available for pictures as he visits with children, but parents should bring their own cameras if they want photos.
UACCM faculty and staff will serve cookies, hot cocoa, and apple cider to all who attend the event. Don’t miss out on the wonderful traditions of Night of Luminaries!
