27 Jul 2015 UACCM to host free student program
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Community Outreach Department will host a Young Manufacturers Academy from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7. Students entering seventh through ninth grades are eligible to enroll in this free five-day program.
The goal of the Young Manufacturers Academy is to allow students to find out what the future holds for them in today’s high-tech workplace. The right skills and education lead to in-demand, high-paying jobs in advanced manufacturing.
During the free program, students will learn how manufacturing has changed in the 21st century, find out more about high-tech industries, see how next generation manufacturing offers exciting career opportunities for young men and women, and meet and work with other students. Participants will also make and design products, use computer software and technology like 3D printers, visit local businesses to see first-hand what today’s manufacturing workplace is all about, hear about career and educational pathways directly from industry and education partners, and find out what kind of skills they will need to prepare for a career in advanced manufacturing. To conclude the program, they will get to practice their new job skills at an industry career fair and family event.
Registration is open now at uaccm.edu for the Young Manufacturers Academy. Apply today, because space is limited to 25 participants, and registration closes Friday, July 31.
Students should bring a lunch each day.
