11 Nov 2012 UACCM offers community education classes
Several community education classes will be offered throughout the holiday season at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.
These classes are low cost with convenient short hours that work around a busy schedule.
Flow Yoga, led by instructor Jaymie Leigh Thomas, can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age or flexibility. The classes involve linking several poses together to build strength, flexibility, endurance and balance, moving toward progression gradually. Flow Yoga is held weekly in the evenings at the UACCM Health and Fitness Building for $25 per month. Class dates vary around the holidays to accommodate schedules of participants.
Christmas Crafting, led by instructor Mandy Voliva, will be offered 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Community Education Center in Morrilton. The cost is $30 and includes three “ready-to-gift” projects for the holidays. Participants will learn how to create high impact, low cost gifts while enjoying cocoa and cookies in a relaxed atmosphere. Space is limited, and registration is open until Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Join Officer Bryan Risner for Self Defense for the Holidays from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Community Education Center. During the class, participants will learn a combination of strikes, low kicks, and common pressure points. They will also practice breaking away from various grabs and holds and learn to use simple self-defense weapons effectively. The cost is $35, and registration is open until Wednesday, Nov. 28.
