UACCM Clock Tower Ribbon Cutting Set for September 4

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) Commemorative Clock Tower ribbon cutting is scheduled for September 4, at 10:30 a.m.

Funded by the UACCM Foundation, this community landmark provides a gathering space in the heart of campus while also representing the college’s rich history and bright future.

Throughout the past decade, the UACCM Foundation has raised private donations through a series of fundraising drives such as Links for Learning, the UACCM Gala, and the “Aiming for Education trap shoot events.

The base of the tower includes four short concrete structures with all the institution’s names etched in the steps: Petit Jean Vo-Tech, Petit Jean Technical College, Petit Jean College, and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

The area around the base includes brick pavers with short inscription selected by donors etched into each brick. Bricks and cornerstones are currently available to purchase from the UACCM Foundation.

The project was developed by Ken Amburgy of SCM Architects. UACCM drafting students Julianne Razo and Jason Scruggs created potential designs in 2011, when the commemorative clock tower initiative was first created as part of the college’s then approaching 50-year celebration. The initial design sketches by the two UACCM drafting students were used to inspire the architect’s initial renderings of the tower.
