Two CBC players recognized

A pair of Central Baptist College men’s basketball players recently earned All-America honors. Tyrone Alston and Darius Williams were both selected to the NAIA Honorable Mention All-America team, marking the first time that two Mustangs have earned All-American recognition in the same season and the third season in a row that CBC has earned honorable mention honors.

Alston had an outstanding year, averaging 11.3 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game and handing out a team-high 137 assists, while also leading the team in free throw shooting (.752). He was both a first-team and all-defensive team selection by the American Midwest Conference selection and became the first Mustang ever with back-to-back 100 assist seasons and the first Mustang ever to post two triple doubles, posting one last year and getting his second against Crowley’s Ridge on Feb. 8 (14 pts., 10 rebs., 10 asts.).

Williams was the leading scorer for the Mustangs this season, averaging 14.3 points per game while also leading the team in three-point shooting (.398) and finishing fourth in shooting from the charity stripe (.734). He was a first-team selection by the AMC in his lone season with CBC and also played the third most minutes on the team.
