Trojans resume outdoor schedule with competition at Drake, ASU

LITTLE ROCK — After an extended break following their home meet two weeks ago, the Little Rock Track and Field teams begin the home stretch toward the conference championships with competitors in Des Moines, Iowa, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, this weekend.

The Trojans will have a pair of athletes running distance events at the Drake Relays today, while the rest head to Arkansas State for the Alumni Classic on Friday and Saturday.

On Thursday, Shane Fisher and Jordan Smith will hit the track at Drake Stadium as Fisher competes in the 1500 meters at approximately 5:10 pm, while Smith races in the 5000 meters at 7:52 pm. At ASU, competition begins Friday with field events at 3 pm and running events at 5 pm. Running events continue Saturday morning at 9:30 am while field events pick up again at 10:30 am.

This is the first of three straight weekends of competition for Little Rock. The Trojans will be at the SMU Invitational in Dallas, Texas next weekend, followed by the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville on May 9-10. The Ohio Valley Conference Championships are schedule for May 15-17 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
