28 Jul 2021 Top moments of the 2020-21 Season: CBC Men’s basketball wins AMC tourney for the second time
Conway – As Central Baptist College continues to countdown the top moments of the 2020-21 season, they remember an exciting winter sports moment. The men’s basketball team had a record setting performance and won the American Midwest Conference tournament championship for the second time!
CBC matched up with Columbia College and AMC Player of the Year Tony Burks in the title game. The Mustangs, who earned the #2 seed in the tournament, left no doubt early, racing out to a 20-2 lead over the first 8:05 to win the tournament title 89-54. The 35-point blowout was the largest margin of victory ever in the AMC tournament championship game and broke the previous record of 34, set by Columbia in 2012. The Mustangs would go on to the Opening Round of the NAIA Men’s National Basketball Tournament against Benedictine of Kansas in Wichita.
