18 Oct 2011 Time to ‘Step Up’ to fight hunger
Faulkner County schools, businesses, clubs and individuals are being recruited to “Step Up to the Plate” and help fight hunger.
501 LIFE is teaming up again with the Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF)/Faulkner County and local schools to help feed the hungry – presently and for years to come.
“We were thrilled with the support and interest that last year’s campaign generated,” said 501 LIFE publisher Sonja J. Keith. “We have already had a number of schools register for this year’s campaign and hope others will join us.”
For two weeks – Monday, Oct. 31, through Friday, Nov. 11 – schoolchildren will once again:
Collect money to support a permanent endowment fund to provide financial resources to assist Faulkner County agencies that provide hunger relief.
Collect non-perishable food items for the Bethlehem House homeless shelter.
Between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, the canned goods and money will be delivered to the 501 office in Downtown Conway.
Each team that collects a minimum of 500 food items and $500 will have their photograph published in 501 LIFE. There will also be special coverage of the team that collects the most money and canned food based on student enrollment.
