Therapists earn certification

Eric Burgener and Turner Sibley, two Therapy & Rehab Solutions’ physical therapists who treat patients at Conway Regional Therapy Center-Scherman Heights, have been awarded board certification in Orthopaedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

According to the board’s online directory, only 17 physical therapists in Arkansas hold this highly-specialized certification.

Burgener is from Hattieville and Sibley is from Helena. Both Burgener and Sibley currently live in Conway.

Turner Sibley, PT, DPT, OCS, earned a doctorate of physical therapy from Tennessee State University in Nashville in 2013. He is a graduate of the Exercise Science program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and he is certified in the Sportsmetrics ACL program.

Turner works to rehabilitate orthopedic patients, particularly athletes. The most common diagnoses he treats are low back pain, ACL rehab, rotator cuff repair, upper back and neck pain and general weakness.

Eric Burgener has been awarded board certification in orthopaedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Eric Burgener, PT, DPT, OCS, earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from the University of Central Arkansas and went on to complete the physical therapy doctoral program there as well. He is also certified in worker’s comp rehabilitation. He uses core stabilization techniques designed to promote spinal stability and encourage pain free mobility for maximal function.

The most common diagnoses he treats are: spinal stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, postural dysfunction and a variety of orthopedic lower extremity diagnoses including patellofemoral disorders, ACL rehab and joint replacement rehabilitation.

More than 10,000 therapists have achieved the certification nationally since the orthopaedics specialty exam was first given in 1989.

American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) coordinates and oversees the physical therapy specialist certification process and is the governing body for certification and recertification of clinical specialists.
