The Pacers to perform March 14

The Rialto Community Arts Theatre will present Sun Recording artist The Legendary Pacers at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Rialto Theatre in Morrilton.

The band was formed in 1955 in Newport (Jackson County) and was an original Sun Records recording artist. The group was considered pioneers of rock and roll, putting on legendary performances throughout the Delta in the 1950s and 1960s.  

The Pacers were inducted in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Jackson, Tenn., in 2002 for songs such as “We Wanna Boogie” and “Red-Headed Woman.” The Pacers toured with music greats such as Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty and many more. 

The group has been playing music for 65 years.
