09 Dec 2020 Sugar Bears welcome Kansas State on Saturday
The University of Central Arkansas women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 5, against another Power 5 opponent in Kansas State. The Sugar Bears will be at home for the first time this season and it will be just the third time in program history that a Power 5 team has made the trip to Conway.
The Sugar Bears look to improve on a 1-2 record as they play on the hardwood of the Farris Center for the first time. Jalisa Outlaw is averaging 14.7 points per game and leads UCA. Lucy Ibeh leads the team with 11 steals and is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA and No. 2 in the Southland. Briana Trigg has been a force on the glass for UCA and leads the team with 24 rebounds, which has her ranked No. 69 in the NCAA and No. 5 in the Southland. Tori Lasker paces the Sugar Bears in assists with nine. As a team, UCA ranks No. 47 in the nation with 24 steals.
This will be the third meeting between UCA and K-State. This will be the first time that the Wildcats have made the trip to Conway. K-State leads the series 2-0, including a 70-54 victory the last time the two programs met in 2018.
The Wildcats are led by Christianna Carr, who is averaging 15.0 points per game, and leads the team with seven 3-point baskets. Emilee Ebert and Ayoka Lee lead the team with four blocked shots and are tied for 57th in the NCAA in that category. Lee also has a team-high 13 rebounds, while Ebert leads with eight assists. K-State has started the season 1-1, as it knocked off Southern, before falling to No. 11 Kentucky.
