Steely opens new clinic

Donald E. Steely, MD, of Conway, an interventional cardiologist on the staff of Conway Regional Health System, has opened a new clinic, named the Conway Regional Cardiovascular Clinic.

Steely, who has practiced in Conway since 1998, has opened the new clinic at Suite 202 at 525 Western Ave. within Conway Regional Medical Center. Effective Aug. 1, Steely became a partner with Conway Regional and the Jack Stephens Heart Institute at CHI St. Vincent.

He formerly practiced at Conway Heart Clinic, which is also located at Conway Regional Medical Center. The new contact information for Steely is 501.513.5337.

His patients will have a smooth transition, Steely said.

“Our patients will receive the same level of excellent care as they have had in the past, provided by the same physician and same nursing team that they have come to rely upon for their cardiovascular care,” Steely said. “The benefit for them will be this new relationship that integrates my expertise along with the cardiology services of Conway Regional and CHI-St. Vincent’s Jack Stephens Heart Institute. This will expand and enhance the cardiovascular services offered to our community and our patients.”

Conway Regional’s Chief Operating Officer Alan Finley said, “The cardiovascular clinic is a first for us, but still part of our ongoing efforts to form a stronger affiliation with our physicians. The clinic provides a vehicle for us to work together closely.”

He added, “We are always looking for opportunities to help physicians deal with all the headaches of practice management, giving them more time and energy to focus on patient care.

We will manage the business side of the practice so Dr. Steely can focus on patient care both in the clinic and the hospital. It also gives us a vehicle for growing cardiology services.

When you have cardiologists interested in being in clinics that have a relationship with a larger entity, it helps us in recruitment, developing new services and just being more tightly affiliated with the physicians. It gives us an opportunity to bring more services to the community.”

As for Steely, he is all smiles.

“I’ve just had a huge load lifted off my shoulders,” he said.

Steely has more than 24 years of experience as a physician and holds a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics followed by a fellowship in cardiology at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

He is certified in interventional cardiology, general cardiology and internal medicine.

Steely is team cardiologist for the University of Central Arkansas athletics program and team physician for Conway Christian School. He is a graduate of Hendrix College.
