St. Joseph student to attend Air Force Academy

St. Joseph High School senior Tia Massa has been admitted to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., which she will attend after graduating high school.

Tia will be specializing in aeronautical engineering.

Getting accepted by the Air Force Academy was a lengthy process. "I had to apply to our congressional representatives who make nominations," Tia said. They chose 20 students from the 90 who applied. Once nominated, each of the academies study applications and have candidates write essays and submit to a battery of tests.

"I chose the Air Force Academy because it has the top aeronautical engineering program in the United States," Tia said. She one day hopes to pilot Air Force C-130s.
