St. Joseph Middle School will host the 12th Annual Battle of the Books on Tuesday, May 8, in the Family Activities Center. 

St. Joseph student Madeline Fithen (from left), Ella Crowder, Carolina Ferrer, Hayley Burgess, Brody Mallett and Trevor Jackson. Students in grades fourth through sixth from 14 Arkansas Catholic schools will be sending teams of five or six students to compete and answer questions about more than a dozen books they’ve read in recent months. 

St. Joseph’s team is called "The Library Two Doors Down," which is a play on the title of one of the selected stories, "The Hero Two Doors Down" by Sharon Robinson. Carolina Ferrer is the team captain and Madeline Fithen is co-captain. 

St. Joseph last won the competition in 2013.
