26 Oct 2016 Soaring Wings Marathon kicks off at expo Friday

The Soaring Wings Marathon and Half Marathon will kick off with an expo on Friday, with the main running events on Saturday in Conway.

Proceeds support Soaring Wings Ranch, a Christ-centered family and home that provides security, love and hope to children who need a chance. The Ranch is located on 195 acres in the Holland community, north of Conway.

A free expo is planned 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds. In addition to packet pick up, individuals can shop for the latest running gear from vendors.

The Kids Run for Kids Half Marathon and Fun Run is 5 p.m. Friday at the expo center.

At 7 a.m. Saturday, the marathon, half marathon and a two-man relay will kick off. The event features a USATF-certified course, which begins and ends at the Conway McGee Center. Race day packet pickup is 5:30 to 6:45 a.m. at the McGee Center. The national anthem and invocation will take place at 6:45.

Individuals and families living along the route are invited and encouraged to cheer on participants. The course closes at 1 p.m.

The Presenting Sponsor for the marathon weekend is Crain Automotive. TLC Pediatrics is the sponsor for the half marathon and Kids Run. 501 LIFE is the official media sponsor.
