Sibenmann’s late goal helps Mustangs salvage draw with Saints

CONWAY — Looking to rebound from a season-opening loss, Central Baptist College women’s soccer returned to the Conway Soccer Complex recently to host the Saints of Randall University. CBC (0-1-1) took the lead early in the second half, allowed two goals in three minutes, and then tied the match with three minutes to play to draw 2-2 with RU (1-0-1).

Following a scoreless first half, Kitanna Richards opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 52ndminute to give CBC a 1-0 lead. Goals by Randall in the 59th and 61st minutes gave them a lead, and the deficit stuck until Peyton Siebenmann converted a corner kick from Myndy Zamora into the equalizer to give CBC their first draw since last year against Lyon. Rebecca Vandenburg played all 90 minutes in the net and made four saves.

CBC plays on the road for the first time this season when they head over to Warrior Field for a match with Hendrix. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
