15 Sep 2025 Sherwood to celebrate new playground at Lake Cherrywood Park
SHERWOOD — The City of Sherwood invites the community to celebrate the opening of a brand-new playground at Lake Cherrywood Park, 801 E. Shore Drive, Sherwood (Pulaski County), with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

This new tree-house-themed, inclusive playground is unlike any other in Sherwood, featuring exciting elements such as zip lines! It has been designed to be welcoming for children of all abilities.
The playground builds on major improvements completed earlier this year at Lake Cherrywood Park, including the conversion of the basketball court into an all-accessible facility with lighting, fencing, and bleachers; accessible restrooms; a water-filling station; enhanced sidewalks; resurfaced parking with expanded disability spaces; and an accessible picnic area. These upgrades align with the City’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, ensuring Lake Cherrywood Park is a welcoming space for all.
“Lake Cherrywood Park is becoming a showcase for accessibility, inclusivity, and fun,” said Mayor Mary Jo Heye-Townsell. “These investments reflect our commitment to reimagining public spaces where everyone feels welcome.”
Incorporated in 1948, the City of Sherwood is a growing community in central Arkansas, dedicated to providing quality services, safe neighborhoods, and vibrant parks and recreational opportunities.
