Ahlf Junior High School in Searcy recently hosted a Wreaths Across America assembly.
Organizers discussed the importance of remembering fallen heroes by laying wreaths on their graves. Through the organization, wreath laying ceremonies are held on a specified Saturday in December at Arlington National Cemetery as well as veterans cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states. (For more information, visit wreathsacrossamerica.org.)
All veterans invited to the assembly were also recognized.
In preparation for the holiday season and the Wreaths Across America assembly, Ahlf Junior High School hosted a toy drive in coordination with Operation Homefront to benefit military families. Students donated more than 1,400 toys.
