11 Jun 2012 Sacred Heart students win Arkansas Stock Market Game
Economics Arkansas recently hosted a gala luncheon at Verizon Arena, honoring the winners of the Spring 2012 Arkansas Stock Market Game.
First place in the Senior High Division/Region 1, was awarded to Sacred Heart Catholic School teacher Martha Briggler and her students, Abby Bailey, Whitney Bean and Irene Taylor.
The Stock Market Game gives students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. Students strive to create the best-performing portfolio using a live trading simulation.
They work together in teams, practicing leadership, organization, negotiation and cooperation as they compete for the top spot. The state is divided into six regions. The setup is engaging, and learning is a natural part of the experience.
The Sacred Heart accounting class had four teams who participated in the Spring Stock Market Game.
Sacred Heart’s winning team made a profit of $12,783.65 in a 10-week period.
