18 Mar 2018 Run for the Son 5K set March 24
The Harding School of Theology will host its 17th Run for the Son 5K on Saturday, March 24, on its campus located at 1000 Cherry Road, Memphis.
Registration and check-in opens at 7 a.m., and the race begins at 8 a.m. All registered race participants will receive a T-shirt, snacks, drinks and a goody bag of items courtesy of various Memphis businesses and organizations.
After the race, there will be guided tours of the HST administration building, formerly known as the King Mansion.
“Friends of Harding School of Theology love the school’s mission of ‘deeper faith in God, higher standards of ministry and scholarship,’” said Greg Muse, director of advancement. “The 5K helps support this mission through a healthy, fun competition for our community. It is a great venue to meet neighbors, cheer on the runners and make new friends while on the beautiful HST campus.”
Run for the Son is a regulation, card timed 5K race. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division.
The Run for the Son 5K is sponsored by the HST Advancement Office and Women for Harding. Proceeds from the event are used to fund scholarships for HST students.
“HST students make a huge financial sacrifice to obtain their degrees,” Muse said. “Faculty and staff want to do everything possible to lighten that load. The 5K’s underwriting, sponsorship and participant fees all go to the HST Fund, which help defray student costs.”
Registration is $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the race. To sign up or to learn more, visit hst.edu/run or call 901.432.7723.
