Rotary Club to hold free laundry event April 1

MORRILTON — The Rotary Club of Morrilton will host its first free community wash night event on Tuesday, April 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Mr. Clean Coin Laundry, 220 N Chestnut Street in downtown Morrilton.

Club members will be on site to place coins into the machines for anyone in the community who would like to utilize the free laundry service during the event. Rotarians will also grill hot dogs and provide a free meal to those who attend. They plan to make this a quarterly event.

“Our Rotary Club does a community service project each year through the district grant program,” said Club President Courtney Martin. “This year, we are hoping to bless those in our area with free laundry service through these quarterly wash nights.”

Those who attend can also sign up to win a washer and dryer set for their home courtesy of the Rotary Club of Morrilton. The drawing will take place at another wash night event later in the year.

Anyone who wants to participate can bring their laundry during the event. Attendees must stay on-site with their items. Rotarians will place coins in machines, but attendees should bring their own detergent and other laundry products of choice.

The event is funded in part by Rotary District 6170 grant funds and local funds from the Rotary Club of Morrilton. Past district grant projects have included planting the rose bushes in the median in front of the Conway County Library, painting projects at Community Service Inc. and the Conway County Center for Exceptional Children, cleanup and planting of the bump-out flower beds in downtown Morrilton, and discrete and accessible feminine hygiene products for students in Morrilton schools, among others.

The club would like to thank the owners of Mr. Clean Coin Laundry, Chuck and Donna Kay Leslie, for their support in making this event possible.
