12 Aug 2012 ROSE BUD: Ramblers ready to turn corner
Classification: 2-3A
Coach: Steve Rose
Last Season: 2-8 (1-6)
The Rose Bud Ramblers won only two games last fall and haven’t won more than two games in a season since the program started in 2006. Despite that, Rose Bud has built some confidence heading into 2012.
“We were a young team that struggled with consistency last year,” Coach Steve Rose said. “But last year was the most competitive team we have had at Rose Bud. We just could not overcome mistakes, especially in the red zone.”
The Ramblers return 19 starters, which could be enough to get Rose Bud to its first playoff berth.
Senior receiver Dillon Reesnes (6-0, 180) returns after recording 63 catches for 867 yards and seven touchdowns last year. Junior Cole Robertson (5-11, 195) rushed for 676 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore.
The Ramblers return all but one starter on defense, including senior linebacker Osiris Jauregui (5-8, 155).
“We have tons of experience; we just have to continue to build,” Rose said. “We expect improvements, especially in the running game and on defense. Harding Academy and Barton are the teams to beat, but all others have a legit playoff shot.”
