15 Apr 2010 Renewal Ranch ‘Meet the Candidates’
Festivities will get underway at 5 p.m., with candidates scheduled to deliver short speeches at 6. Hamburgers will be for sale, and homemade pies will be auctioned. More information about Renewal Ranch and its vision will also be available. All candidates are invited to the event.
The rehabilitation program, modeled after the John 3:16 facility near Batesville, is headed up by James Loy, formerly of Conway. He is a graduate of Conway High School and he and his wife, Laura, recently moved to Conway.
Construction on the 100-acre campus just across the Arkansas River in Perry County is scheduled to get underway in the summer. Several local leaders are already involved and more are expected to join as the program progresses, Loy said. Board members include David Stobaugh, Rev. Larry Pillow, Vickie Critcher, Chris Allen, Marsha Rawls, Brian Poppe, Kim Hogue and Paul Hudson.
The first major donation has been provided by Home Depot, where Loy has been employed the last several years. The $20,000 grant, from Home Depot Foundation, has already been partially funded and will complete as buildings are constructed.
