Registration is under way for Walk to Remember

Registration is under way for the sixth annual Conway Regional Walk to Remember. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, at Conway High School’s John McConnell Stadium.

Walk to Remember is a free event to help families remember an infant that was lost before or shortly after delivery. The Conway Regional Perinatal Bereavement program sponsors the walk each year to help families cope with the loss of an infant. The walk is dedicated to the late Mike Smyers and his wife, Jeanne, who helped developed the bereavement program after his own family experienced a loss.

In addition to the walk, the event includes testimonials by family members and several activities to memorialize babies. Walkers are encouraged to register and include the names of babies to be memorialized at the event. The baby’s name can be read during a remembrance ceremony and added to the program for the event. The walk will also include a balloon release in recognition of the babies. Walkers will also have the option of ordering a Walk to Remember T-shirt through Illustrated Sportswear at 501.513.9000.

Check-in for the walk is 10 a.m. with the remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m. The walk and balloon release will begin immediately following the ceremony. In the event of rain, the walk will be held at the Conway High School Cafeteria.

Registration is available through the Women’s Services section of the Conway Regional website at conwayregional.org. Registrants can click on the perinatal bereavement button for details about the walk and to register. Tax-deductible donations can also be directed to the Perinatal Bereavement program via email to [email protected].
