23 Oct 2024 Records fall again as Little Rock caps fall season
HOT SPRINGS — The fall portion of the 2024-25 Little Rock Women’s Golf season came to an end Tuesday with the final round of the Diamante Intercollegiate, but the Trojans wouldn’t let the sun set on the first half of their schedule without making a few new marks in the school record book. Sticking to a script that has the record book receiving new entries on a weekly basis, three school records fell on the way to Little Rock’s third-place finish at Diamante Country Club.
Little Rock finished with a team score of 857 (-7), besting the previous 54-hole tournament record of 863, and notched their fifth Top 10 finish in as many events this fall, and the fourth in the Top 5. Florida Gulf Coast (-16) won the team title, Boston College (-13) was second, Oral Roberts (-7) tied for third and California Baptist (-2) rounded out the Top 5.
“This was a great week for the Trojans. We always love being able to host a home event at Diamante with such a supportive community. The team played great, and a couple of school records were broken. I was able to see the hard work that we have put in over the fall and accomplished some goals at the end of the semester, and we were able to see what we have got to work on over the offseason to be ready for the spring season. I’m so proud of the effort the team has put in this fall and everything we have accomplished. It’s going to be a long couple of months, but I can’t wait to get on the golf course in the spring.” – Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch
Freshman Kathrine Vynne continued her assault on the school record list, setting new marks for lowest single round score as well as lowest 54-hole tournament score. Vynne fired a 65 (-7) in the third round, besting the previous record of 66 with seven birdies and 11 pars Tuesday. She finished fourth overall with a 10-under 206 (69-72-65), totaling 18 birdies and an eagle over three rounds.
Anna Dawson (-2) finished 11th after rounds of 72-69-73 (214), Eleonore Aernouts came in 21st at 1-over 217 (73-74-70) and Fehild Graesel was 30th at 4-over 220 (69-75-76). Iara Martin (+8) finished 54th, Elvira Flodstrom (+11) was 69th, and Katja Mueller (+15) was 76th.”A huge thank you to the community at Diamante Country Club. Without their support we would not be able to host one of the best events in collegiate golf. Having 54 families host the competing players and coaches in their homes over the weekend is something not every college event can offer, and it makes the Diamante Intercollegiate a one-of-a-kind event.” – Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch
Little Rock will resume the campaign when the spring season begins Feb. 9-11 at the Advance Partners Collegiate in Palm City, Fla., hosted by UNC-Greensboro.
