Racin' in the New Year 5K planned

The Faulkner County Day School will host its annual Racin’ in the New Year 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3.

The race benefits the Milestones and Work Force programs of the Faulkner County Day School, which provide services to children and adults with developmental delays or disabilities.

The event begins and ends at Milestones, 1700 South Blvd. in Conway. The course is USATF certified. New this year is chip timing, which will allow for faster results.

The cost is $25 for ages 13 and older. For ages 12 and younger and virtual runners, the cost is $20. T-shirts are available while supplies last for late and race day registration.

For runners, awards will be presented to the top three males and females overall as well as the top three males and females in various age divisions. For walkers, awards will be presented the top male and female overall as well as the top three males and females in age divisions. (Walkers may not run any of the course).

A prize will be awarded for a new course record. The current male record time is 17:02 by Brad Cooper in 2012. The current female record time is 21:30 by Gosia Hightower in 2013.
