Public invited to Capitol Zoning District workshop

LITTLE ROCK – The Capitol Zoning District Commission will hold a workshop in January and February, inviting the public to provide opinions and comments regarding the future of the commission.

A public workshop for the Capitol Area Master Plan is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m. and a public workshop for the Mansion Area Master Plan is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6, at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Diamond Conference Room at the Division of Arkansas Heritage Headquarters, 1100 North St., Little Rock. Refreshments will be provided.

The Walker Collaborative consulting firm has been contracted to assist in updating the master plan for the commission, a task that has not been undertaken since the late 1990s. The consulting firm will attend these public workshops.

Created by the Arkansas General Assembly in 1975, the Capitol Zoning District Commission serves to promote reinvestment in and protect the unique character of the neighborhoods surrounding the State Capitol and the Governor’s Mansion by acting as a special planning and historic preservation commission.
