Professional signing, Team USA invite headline Harding Baseball Summer Update

SEARCY – Harding’s mid-summer baseball update will include a former Bison signing a professional contract, a signee who will pitch for Team USA, and numerous ball players sharpening their skills in summer leagues.

Davis Welch
  • Davis Welch, a First Team All-GAC performer as a senior right-handed pitcher in 2023, signed a contract with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association, an independent league that is one of three leagues that are classified as MLB Partner Leagues. Welch was 7-4 with a 3.30 ERA in 101.0 innings in 2023.
  • Austin Jobe, a junior right-handed pitcher transferring to Harding from Crowder College, was selected to compete for Team USA (NJCAA All-Stars) at Honkbal Week in Haarlem, Netherlands, from July 12-19. Jobe was 6-2 with a 3.97 ERA in 56.2 innings as a sophomore at Crowder.
  • Two Harding relief pitchers—Javier Lobo and Kyle Lane—are pitching in the prestigious Northwoods League. Lobo, a right-handed pitcher from Guatemala, is pitching for the Madison (Wisc.) Mallards, and Kyle Lane, a right-handed pitcher from Xenia, Ohio, is pitching for the Bismark (N.D.) Larks.
  • Junior infielder Logan Lacey is running roughshod through the Ohio Valley League as a member of the Henderson (Ky.) Flash. He leads the team with a .337 batting average and 1.083 OPS with 89 at-bats. Lacey has hit five of the team’s nine home runs and also leads the team with 25 RBIs, 24 walks, and 16 stolen bases.
  • Four players who redshirted last season—Bo SolleyJackson JonesCooper Thompson and Landon Oliver—are in competition in the Great Lakes Collegiate League. Solley and Jones are with the Xenia (Ohio) Scouts, and Thompson and Oliver are with the Southern Ohio Copperheads.
  • Signee Kade Smith is playing in the Alaska Baseball League for the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.
  • Signee Chance Resetich is playing for the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (Peru, Ill.) of the Prospect League. Resetich has homered twice in 14 games.
  • Signee Harrison Griffith is in the Texas Collegiate League, playing for the Brazos Valley Bombers.
