Polar Plunge at Maumelle

The Central Arkansas Polar Plunge for Special Olympics was held recently at Lake Willastein Park in Maumelle.

Sixty participants raised $24,000 during the event. The Youth Spirit Award was presented to the Mount St. Mary’s Girls Basketball Team, led by Lauren Ramsey. The team raised the most money in the youth category with $1,082.

The Youth Best Costume Award was given to the Special Olympics Arkansas State Youth Activation Council.

The individual who raised the most money was North Little Rock Officer Raul Dallas with $5,965. Dallas is also a Special Olympics board member and Law Enforcement Torch Run member. Most importantly, he is a brother of Special Olympics Arkansas athlete David Dallas, who plunged with his brother on Team Sparta.
