27 Jun 2016 Plans set for 18th Annual Fabulous Fourth
Conway County will celebrate 240 years of America’s independence with its Fabulous Fourth event, which is back this year bigger and better than ever before.
The 18th Annual Fabulous Fourth will be held Monday, July 4, at Morrilton’s Cherokee Park with fireworks, live music, hot dogs and watermelon.
Thanks to volunteers and donors, the celebration will remain completely free to all who attend. All activities will start at 5 p.m., and the fireworks will begin at 9:15. There will be a watermelon eating contest; a contest for the best apple pie; games for children; red, white, and blue helium balloons; and hot dogs, iced tea and lemonade.
State Rep. Rick Beck is helping to organize this year’s event. “This year’s Fabulous Fourth will be unlike any other,” he said. “I’d like to extend my thanks to all who support this event so we can continue to provide a night of fun and free activities to all who attend.”
Picnic baskets and coolers are allowed in the sprawling Corps of Engineers park on the banks of the Arkansas River. There will be 150 American flags on display.
