18 Nov 2013 Petit Jean State Park to hold 16th Annual Mountain Rendezvous
During the Thanksgiving season, visitors to Petit Jean State Park are invited to take a step back in time to the early 1800s at the park’s 16th Annual Mountain Rendezvous.
Beginning on Friday, Nov. 29, park visitors will be able to see how people dressed and lived when much of Arkansas was an unsettled wilderness, a place of French exploration and fur trade. The rendezvous camp will be open to the public on Friday, Nov. 29, Saturday, through Sunday, Dec. 1.
During the rendezvous visitors can get a look at life during the 1830s and have a chance to visit with re-enactors portraying that time period. There will be opportunities to see how a muzzleloader rifle works, take a peek inside a trade tent to see all that it has to offer, participate in pioneer children’s games and more. This rendezvous is co-hosted by the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association (EARA).
