Paint the Town Red Week is being observed in Conway to help promote the upcoming Dazzle Daze shopping event, planned Thursday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds.

The Conway Regional Women’s Council and Dazzle Daze Committee are hosting Paint the Town Red Week to promote this year’s three-day shopping event.

The week-long observance began yesterday and concludes Friday with “Wear Red Day.” The week-long observance was designed to build enthusiasm for one of the state’s largest holiday shopping events, Dazzle Daze.

Several area banks, restaurants and other businesses are promoting the event by posting  materials at their locations, wearing special ribbons and encouraging the community to participate. 

Dazzle Daze is sponsored by the Conway Regional Women’s Council and provides financial resources to purchase equipment and support programs through Conway Regional Health System.

This year, proceeds will help purchase additional 3D mammography equipment at Conway Regional, the only provider of 3D mammography in Conway. Throughout its 17-year history, Dazzle Daze has raised more than $700,000 in support of local health care through the Conway Regional Health System.

The week also marks the beginning of the “Dazzle Daze Dazzler” ornament fundraiser, sponsored by 501 LIFE with the help of local financial institutions.

Six banks are selling a special paper ornament for $1 each to display at the bank. The Dazzler ornament has a place for the purchaser to note if it is “In honor” or “In memory” of someone. The ornaments will be sold through Tuesday, Nov. 13. 

Participating banks are Bank OZK, Centennial, First Arkansas Bank and Trust, First Security, HomeBank and Simmons Bank.

“We are very excited about the response from the banking community to this campaign,” said 501 LIFE editor/co-publisher Sonja J. Keith. “We want to thank all the participating banks for their help and support.”

The banks are participating in a friendly competition to see which one sells the most, with the winning bank and top salesman from each bank featured in 501 LIFE. The overall winner among the banks will be announced at Dazzle Daze.

The 17^th annual Dazzle Daze will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds. It will include a high-value prize raffle, Girls’ Nite Out early bird shopping, a Teddy Bear Clinic, appearances and photos with Santa, food and shopping with more than 80 merchants from throughout the country.
