Pacheco sets NPC record in Ozarks Invitational

CLARKSVILLE — The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Ozarks Invitational Saturday at the University of the Ozarks, with multiple student-athletes recording personal record times.

Freshman Bethany Breshears (Hot Springs) was the Nighthawks’ top finisher in the Women’s 5K, finishing 37th with a time of 27:10.10. Freshman Ava Ellison (Hot Springs) finished 41st in the event, clocking in at 29:48.80. 

In the Men’s 8K race, freshman Alex Pacheco (Hot Springs) finished 15th, slashing 28 seconds off his previous race to lead NPC with a personal record time of 28:40.60—setting the record for the fastest 8K race time in Nighthawk history.

Freshman Wyatt Peters (Hot Springs) added a new personal record, clocking in at 44:05.50 for 53rd place, while freshman Conner Robertson (Hot Springs) finished 57th with a personal record time of 47:31.20. 

Nighthawk men’s and women’s cross country will compete for the NJCAA Region 2 Championship Saturday, October 26 at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville.
