O give thanks . . .

For loving and caring families.    

For true friends that really do care about you and others.

For the Golden Rule – treat other people as you would like to be treated.

For all of the freedoms we have in the United States.

For the top-notch medical facilities and services in the 501.

For having dedicated and concerned teachers that educate our children.

For the roundabouts in Conway – “A City of Colleges . . . and Roundabouts.”

For having a heart that beats, on the average, 70 times per minute/4,200 times per hour/111,000 times per day/almost 40 million times per year.

For the ability to move your body when you want to and where you want to go.

For the millions of motor neurons that activate all 650 muscles that you have.

For a heart that, despite being the size of your fist, can pump out up to almost 30 gallons of blood per minute to your muscles.

For the exercise scientist or nutritionist that discovered that low-fat chocolate milk is a fantastic, inexpensive post-workout recovery drink.

For all of the running stores in the 501 that are staffed with employees that are knowledgeable about running shoes.

For the manufacturers that developed DriFit, Climacool, CoolMax  and GoreTex.

For ZUMBA.

For cities that are fitness oriented and cooperate with running clubs and cycling clubs. (Races and bike tours need the OK from city officials before any races can be scheduled.)

For Garmin technology.  The data is addictive and motivational for many athletes.

For workout buddies. We couldn’t make it without you!

For all of the volunteers who put in countless hours to ensure that the athletic event is run efficiently.

For the Conway bike trail addition between Prince Street and Gatling Park.

For the Underground Passageway (tunnel) in Conway that goes underneath Harkrider Street to connect the west side of Hendrix College to the Wellness & Athletics Center.

For all of the 501 folks that read and enjoy my articles.
