02 Jul 2025 NPC player named to All-American Second Team
HOT SPRINGS — National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk sophomore infielder Quaterrion Walton (Atlanta, Georgia) was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Baseball All-American Second Team recently for his outstanding efforts on the diamond this season.

In a season where Walton was named to the NJCAA Division II All-Region 2 first team and received a Gold Glove, the sophomore shattered NPC’s all-time triples (11) and stolen bases (61) records this year while helping lead the Nighthawks to their most single-season wins in program history (33) and a second round finish in the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament in Hot Springs.
At the plate, Walton set NPC’s single-season records for hits (81) and runs scored (65) this season, while tying the Nighthawks’ single-game marks in hits (5), doubles (3) and home runs (3). Throughout NPC’s historic 2024-25 campaign, the slugger led the Nighthawks in batting average (.395), doubles (15), triples (5), home runs (12), runs batted in (62), total bases (142), slugging percentage (.693) and stolen bases (43). Defensively, the infielder notched an impressive .975 fielding percentage while helping turn 24 double plays for the Nighthawks this season.
Walton, who recently committed to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Champion LSU-Shreveport, closes the book on an impressive Nighthawk career ranked second all-time in runs scored (98), runs batted in (90), hits (118) and doubles (21), third all-time in games played (100), fourth all-time in home runs (17) and fifth all-time in walks (54).
“This is a well-deserved honor for Quaterrion after a dominant season,” NPC Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Rich Thompson said. “At the plate, he was a spark plug for our lineup, boasting elite opposite-field power and serious speed. Defensively, he embraced the move to second base and become the elite defender we knew he could be there. We are so proud of the maturity and leadership he brought to our season this spring.”
