Nighthawk Cross Country competes in NJCAA Region 2 Championship

MENA – The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed in the NJCAA Region 2 Championship at the University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain (Polk County) Friday, with the Nighthawk women earning a third-place team finish and the Nighthawk men finishing fourth in the event.

In the women’s 5K, sophomore Kaylie Goad (Wharton, Texas) clocked in at 22:51.53 for a 6th-place overall finish. Sophomore Chloe Sosa (Snyder, Texas) finished 14th at 25:47.83. Freshman Brenda Patiño (Bogotá, Colombia) placed 20th with a time of 27:21.26, while sophomore Magaly Arvizu (Hot Springs), sophomore Yessenia Vargas (Fresno, Texas) and freshman Yanisel Martinez (Dallas, Texas) added 24th, 27th and 28th-place finishes, respectively. 

In the men’s 8K, freshman Joseph Kollar (Little Rock) led NPC with a time of 33:58.71, finishing in 26th place. Freshman Cooper Johnson (Jessieville) placed 27th overall, with a time of 34:47.90.

The Nighthawk men’s and women’s cross-country teams will conclude their respective seasons in the Spa Running Festival in downtown Hot Springs, Saturday Nov. 11.
