Mustangs win non-conference game at Crowley’s Ridge

PARAGOULD — Renewing a rivalry on Saturday at the Carter Activities Center, Central Baptist College men’s basketball played their final non-American Midwest Conference game against the Pioneers of Crowley’s Ridge College. CBC (15-4) led at halftime and held off a charge from CRC (3-17) winning their sixth in a row 79-69.

CBC never trailed and were led in scoring by Kyle Harding. Deshawn Corprew and Tonje Durham also finished in double figures as the game was determined at the free throw line, where CBC made 21 and CRC made 11, which equaled the ultimate difference in the contest.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • The Mustangs are now 18-2 all-time against the Pioneers in what was the first meeting between the two schools in almost four years
  • CBC is now 13-2 this season when they lead at halftime
  • Coach Sam Kohnke now has 51 wins
  • Harding had 17 points and eight rebounds with a career-high four steals
  • Corprew had 13 off the bench
  • Durham added a career-high 10 points
  • Jonas Carlisle led the way in rebounds, grabbing nine
  • CBC turned the ball over exactly 10 times for the third game in a row
  • CBC won the battle of the glass 40-34 and cashed in on second chance points, outscoring CRC 16-8
