CONWAY — Playing outside the American Midwest Conference for the final time this season, Central Baptist College men’s soccer hosted the Bucs of Christian Brothers University this afternoon at Centennial Soccer Park. CBC (8-2-2) got an early lead, were tied 1-1 at halftime and lost 2-1 to the NCAA Division II Bucs (7-4-2).
Daniel Mondragon scored CBC’s lone goal on a counterattack off a CBU corner kick in the 12th minute. Daniel Pinkney headed the ball down to Callum Bisset, who sprinted up the right side of the pitch and delivered a beautiful cross to Mondragon. For Mondragon, it was his seventh goal of the season and the 16th of his career, which puts him in a tie for ninth all-time. Pinkney notched his 13th assist of the season and moved into a tie for fourth in a single season in points with 35 and for Bisset it was his eighth assist of the season, matching his total from last year, and the 16th of his career, moving him into a tie with Oscar Marquez for sixth all-time.
Next up for CBC is a trip to Columbia, Mo., on Saturday for an AMC contest against the Columbia Cougars. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
