18 Jan 2016 Musical auditions to be held

The Royal Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Shrek: The Musical on at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, and Sunday, Jan. 31.

If necessary, callbacks will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

This production will be directed by Mark A. Burbank, with choreography by Justin A. Pike. Rehearsals will begin March 3.

Come to the Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market St., Downtown Benton. There will be a notice if auditions are actually at a nearby alternate location.

Performances are scheduled April 14-17 and April 21-24.

Those auditioning should be at least 7 years of age and should prepare a song that best features their vocal ability and personality. Performers are required to bring 32 bars of music either from, or in the same style of, the show for the initial audition. An accompanist will be provided. Everyone will be asked to attend a dance call following the singing portion of the audition, and some may be asked to do a cold read from the script. Headshot and resume are strongly encouraged, but not required.

This is a show performed by adults with a few roles for children.
